Viral hepatitis is liver inflammation due to a viral infection which may occur in an acute or chronic form.

 

Most common causes are hepatitis A, B, C, D & E however other viruses such as CMV, HSV & EBV are also well known causative calprits.

 

Severe viral hepatitis may result in need of liver transplantation.
